Physical Education (PE) and Sport

All pupils at Derwentwater School have two lessons of PE a week. Specialist PE staff teach at least one of these lessons.

In PE, children develop their ball and coordination skills, and as they move up through school, they learn the skills and rules of a wide range of sports, including netball, basketball, football, cricket and hockey.

In year 4, all pupils have weekly swimming lessons.

We are very proud of our school sports teams who represent the school at a variety of sports competitions including:

  • Netball
  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Cross Country Running
  • Tag-Rugby
  • Boccia
  • Tri-Golf

We arrange school trips to view sports matches where possible – recent visits have included international netball and hockey matches.
