PE and Sport

All pupils at Derwentwater School have 2 lessons of PE a week. Specialist PE staff teach at least one of these lessons.

In PE children develop their ball and co-ordination skills and as they move up through the school they learn the skills and rules of a wide range of sports including netball, basketball, football, cricket and hockey.

In year 4 all pupils have weekly swimming lessons.

We are very proud of our school sports teams who represent the school at netball, boys and girls football, boys and girls cricket and cross country running.

We arrange school trips to view sports matches where possible – recent visits have included international netball and hockey matches.

QPR football club support our football coaching and we also have a specialist cricket coach (a former international player) who coaches our cricket team.
